Jesus Ascends to Heaven

Now when He had spoken these things, while they watched, He was taken up, and a cloud received Him out of their sight. 10 And while they looked steadfastly toward heaven as He went up, behold, two men stood by them in white apparel, 11 who also said, “Men of Galilee, why do you stand gazing up into heaven? This same Jesus, who was taken up from you into heaven, will so come in like manner as you saw Him go into heaven.” — Acts 1:9-11.

After Jesus tells His apostles to be His witnesses, He is lifted upward and a cloud hides Him from their view. As they keep looking upward at the departing Jesus, two men in white clothing stand near them and ask them why there are standing looking up into the sky. They state that the same Jesus Who has been taken up from them into heaven will return in the same way as they see Him go into heaven.

The promise of Christ’s second coming is a major factor in Christian living and doctrine.
