Jesus Prays to the Father

25 At that time Jesus answered and said, “I thank You, Father, Lord of heaven and earth, that You have hidden these things from the wise and prudent and have revealed them to babes. 26 Even so, Father, for so it seemed good in Your sight. 27 All things have been delivered to Me by My Father, and no one knows the Son except the Father. Nor does anyone know the Father except the Son, and the one to whom the Son wills to reveal Him.” – Matthew 11:25-27.

Jesus thanks the Father, the Lord of heaven and earth, for having hidden the truths about Himself and His teachings from the worldly wise and prudent and revealing them to the simple of the earth. The scribes and Pharisees and their followers fail or refuse to acknowledge Jesus as the Messiah, the Son of God. However, the simple folks readily acknowledge and accept Him as their Savior. Jesus acknowledges that this arrangement is acceptable to the Father.

Then Jesus reveals three truths about Himself. (v.27).

1. God’s sovereign disposition of all things has been committed to Him. The Son of Man has received all power and dominion.
2. He alone knows the Father and the Father alone knows Him. Jesus’ knowledge is equal to the Father’s, and His sonship is unique.
3. His sovereignty extends even to deciding who will know the Father. Jesus reveals the Father.

May we fully accept and receive these truths.
