“Hated for My Name’s sake.”

“And you will be hated by all for My name’s sake. But he who endures to the end will be saved.” — Matthew 10:22; Mark 13:13.

“If the world hates you, you know that it hated Me before it hated you. If you were of the world, the world would love its own. Yet because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you.” — John 15:18, 19.

We are not alone!

The devil has always hated Jesus (God) and the world, under the devil’s influence, hates Jesus (God) too. It is an extended hatred. It is evident that Satan is behind this hatred. We who bear the name of Jesus are experiencing the old enmity. God declared it in the Garden of Eden : “And I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed; He shall bruise your head, and you shall bruise His heel.” — Genesis 3:15. The woman’s Seed is Jesus. He bruised Satan’s head and Satan’s bruised Jesus’ heal on/at the Cross.

A spiritual warfare is raging and we are caught up in it!

For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. — Ephesians 6:12.

The hostility of the world (under the devil’s influence) towards Christ and His followers is a result of the enmity which began in the Garden of Eden.

However, the Lord has not left us defenseless in a hostile world. He has promised to be with us. — Matthew 28:20.

We are exhorted to remain strong in the Lord and in His mighty power.

“Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might.” — Ephesians 6:10.

He has provided us with the necessary armor to withstand the spiritual attacks.

Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. — Ephesians 6:11.

“Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; praying always with all prayer and supplication in the Spirit, being watchful to this end with all perseverance and supplication for all the saints—“ — Ephesians 6:13-18.

What are the pieces of “the whole armor of God”?

  • The Truth
  • Righteousness
  • The Gospel
  • Faith
  • Salvation
  • The Word of God
  • Prayer

We would do well to be fully dressed and ready to take a stand for the Lord against the wiles of the devil.

This war will continue until the Day of the Lord.

“[W]hen He comes, in that Day, to be glorified in His saints and to be admired among all those who believe, because our testimony among you was believed. Therefore we also pray always for you that our God would count you worthy of this calling, and fulfill all the good pleasure of His goodness and the work of faith with power, that the name of our Lord Jesus Christ may be glorified in you, and you in Him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” — 2 Thessalonians 1:10-12.

Then the devil will be finally destroyed. Needless to say, his followers will also meet his fate. — Revelation 20:10.

“[T]he lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming.” — 2 Thessalonians 2:8.

The devil and all evil will be destroyed at Jesus’ glorious return at the end of time.

Until then, “he who endures to the end will be saved,” said Jesus.
