We See Jesus – The Mercy Seat

Romans 3
20 For no one is declared righteous before him by the works of the law, for through the law comes the knowledge of sin.
21 But now apart from the law the righteousness of God (which is attested by the law and the prophets) has been disclosed —
22 namely, the righteousness of God through the faithfulness of Jesus Christ for all who believe. For there is no distinction,
23 for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God.
24 But they are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus.
25 God publicly displayed him at his death as the mercy seat accessible through faith. This was to demonstrate his righteousness, because God in his forbearance had passed over the sins previously committed.
26 This was also to demonstrate his righteousness in the present time, so that he would be just and the justifier of the one who lives because of Jesus’ faithfulness.

On this Lord’s Day, let us meditate on the righteousness of God, Who was merciful towards us through the sacrifice of Jesus Christ. God expressed His justice, mercy, and righteousness in and by the atonement of Jesus Christ on our behalf. Through humble faith we access the mercy seat appealing to the faithfulness of our Savior for our salvation. We are reconciled to God in Christ Jesus; He is our meeting place with God. He is our Mediator.

For there is one God and one intermediary between God and humanity, Christ Jesus, himself human. – 1 Timothy 2:5.

Christ is the one who died (and more than that, he was raised), who is at the right hand of God, and who also is interceding for us. – Romans 8:34.

So he is able to save completely those who come to God through him, because he always lives to intercede for them. – Hebrews 7:25.

God is a God of grace, a God of mercy, and a God of love to all humans. As recipients of God’s grace, mercy, and love, let us remain faithful to Him because of the faithfulness of Christ Jesus.
