I Will Save My People

“Now I will go down and save my people…” portion of Exodus 3:8, ERV.

He left the splendor of Heaven
Knowing His destiny
Was the lonely hill of Golgotha
There to lay down His life for me

And if that isn’t love / Then the ocean is dry
There’s no stars in the sky / And the sparrow can’t fly
If that isn’t love / Then heaven’s a myth
There’s no feeling like this / If that isn’t love

~ From If That Isn’t Love by J.R. Rambo.

It is truly amazing that The Eternal Spirit, the Only True Living and Holy LORD God Almighty – who caused everything to be and maintains them by His powerful word, the Universe and everything in it – is concerned about human beings! Why?

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by your name; You are Mine.” – Portion of Isaiah 41:1.

There is the key: “You are Mine.” We belong to Him. That’s why! It is indeed reassuring to know that our Creator is so concerned about us that He personally came looking for us.

“…the Son of Man has come to seek and to save that which was lost.” ~ Luke 19:10.

He came looking because we were lost. Jesus means “YHWH saves”! He is the Savior. It is His nature to save. A beautiful illustration of this is found in Luke 15.

Luke 15 – Parable of the Lost Sheep
1 Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. 2 And the Pharisees and scribes complained, saying, “This Man receives sinners and eats with them.” 3 So He spoke this parable to them, saying: 4 “What man of you, having a  hundred sheep, if he loses one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the wilderness, and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? 5 And when he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. 6 And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ 7 I say to you that likewise there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine just persons who need no repentance.

We were lost in our sins. The Gentle Shepherd Savior came looking for us. Found us! Heard our cry of “I’m lost! Save me! I’m willing to return to the fold!” That’s repentance. He can save us only when we realize that we are lost and need salvation.

We were covered in sin dirt. The Gentle Shepherd shed His blood and cleaned us!

Isaiah 1
16 “Wash yourselves, make yourselves clean; Put away the evil of your doings from before My eyes. Cease to do evil, 17 Learn to do good; Seek justice, Rebuke the oppressor; Defend the fatherless, Plead for the widow. 18 “Come now, and let us reason together,” Says the Lord, “Though your sins are like scarlet, They shall be as white as snow; Though they are red like crimson, They shall be as wool. 19 If you are willing and obedient, You shall eat the good of the land…”

“…Christ also loved the church and gave Himself for her, that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word” ~ Ephesians 5:25, 26.

It is our sins that separate us from God. To be reconciled to and be in a right relationship with Him, we need to repent [decide to turn from our sin life] and be baptized for the remission of our sins. This is God’s instruction on how we solve our sin problem.

“Repent, and let every one of you be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit.” ~ Acts 2:38.

“And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord.” ~Acts 22:16.

I will save my people because they are Mine.

Jesus said, “For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved.” ~ John 3:16, 17.
